Regular Season Round 12: Barreteros - Santos 91-93

Date: November 24, 2016
The most exciting game of round 12 in the LNBP took place in Zacatecas. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Barreteros (5-7) to eighth ranked Santos (5-7) 93-91 in the game for the fifth place. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santos made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) chipped in 30 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and forward Sergio Escobar (195-81) added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Barreteros' coach Lawrence Lessett tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Santos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Barreteros. Santos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Barreteros will play again at home against Santos (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
