The game in Guanajuato supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Toros (9-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Abejas (5-7). Toros smashed Abejas 102-79 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Abejas managed to win second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game, while Abejas only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Abejas 45-23 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Gary Mondragon who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international center Lorenzo Mata (205-86, agency: Pro Sports) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Toros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward J.J. Richardson (203-91, college: Houston) with 17 points and his fellow American import forward Michael Haysbert (201, college: Gannon) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Abejas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
