Regular Season Round 10: Guangzhou LL - Shandong GS 81-86

Bottom-ranked Guangzhou (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-81 loss to ninth ranked Shandong Bulls (6-4) in Guangzhou on Friday evening. Strangely Guangzhou outrebounded Shandong Bulls 47-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) scored 28 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Yanyuhang Ding (200-93) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman D.J. Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Ziming Fan (211-98) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Shandong Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Loser Guangzhou still closes the standings with ten games lost. Shandong Bulls will meet higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Guangzhou will play against TianJin Steel (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
