Sixteenth-ranked Fujian (3-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Shanghai Sharks (9-1) in Jinjiang on Friday. The visitors from Shanghai managed to secure only three-point victory 111-108. However their fans expected much easier game. Shanghai Sharks forced 19 Fujian turnovers. Strangely Fujian outrebounded Shanghai Sharks 51-35 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Fujian helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. French Guerschon Yabusele (201-95) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. American forward J.J. Hickson (206-88, college: N.Carolina St.) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and international Zhelin Wang (215-94) added 20 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fujian's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shanghai Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guangsha L. Fujian lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with seven games lost. Shanghai Sharks is looking forward to face Sichuan BW (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fujian will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#14) in Taiyuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
