Regular Season Round 18: Ehime OV - Kumamoto V. 69-77

There was no surprise when 4th ranked Orange Vikings (6-12) lost to first ranked Kumamoto V. (16-2) in Matsuyama 69-77 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But Orange Vikings won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kumamoto V. won last quarter 22-15. Kumamoto V. outrebounded Orange Vikings 52-33 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Kumamoto V.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Joshua Crawford (211-88, college: Indiana St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Orange Vikings. Four Kumamoto V. and five Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. Kumamoto V. have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Orange Vikings lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
