Regular Season Round 18: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 81-57

Date: November 26, 2016
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Akita Happinets (4-14) outleveled at home 4th ranked Sendai 89ers (6-12) 81-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sendai 89ers to just 7 points in first quarter. It was a great shooting night for Akita Happinets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Guard Seiya Ando (184-92) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets maintains sixth position with 4-14 record, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Sendai 89ers lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 12 games lost. Akita Happinets will face again higher ranked Sendai 89ers (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
