The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Hitachi Cougars' (3-12) road victory over 10th ranked Aishin Wings (1-14) 73-65 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aishin Wings won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Cougars made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was guard Aya Tsurumi (164-92) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Kyoko Hamaguchi (181-90) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Haneda Vickies. Loser Aishin Wings keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round. Aishin Wings will play again on the road against Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
