Regular Season Round 12: Libertad Sun. - Lanus 39-93

Bottom-ranked Libertad Sun. (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-39 loss to second ranked Lanus (9-4) in Sunchales. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Lanus led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Libertad Sun. to just 5 points in first quarter and to 13 points in first half. Lanus shot 30 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Libertad Sun. only scored six points from the stripe. Lanus forced 32 Libertad Sun. turnovers. Libertad Sun. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international power forward Agostina Burani (184-91) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-83) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Cuban center Anay Garcia Pozo (188-94) replied with 10 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Johana Puchetti (180-87) added 9 points in the effort for Libertad Sun.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Lanus maintains second position with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader Estrella Berisso. Libertad Sun. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Lanus will play against Talleres RPB (#6) in the next round. Libertad Sun. will play against Berazategui and hopes to get finally their first victory.
