Regular Season Round 9: Leganes - IF Air Europa 79-71

LF2 top team - Leganes (8-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked IF Air Europa (4-6) 79-71. The hosts were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 21-10 last quarter charge of IF Air Europa cut the lead to 79-71 at the end of the game. Leganes forced 23 IF Air Europa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Annie Armstrong (173-93, college: Drury) who scored 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Paula Justel (186-92) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Leganes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Patricia Soler (186-94, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Regina Gomez (173-82) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively. Four IF Air Europa players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Leganes. They maintain first place in Group B with 8-1 record. IF Air Europa lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with six games lost. Leganes' next round opponent will be Rivas Promete (#4) on the road. IF Air Europa will play against Antiguo Boscos (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
