Regular Season Round 9: Piacenza - San Vendemiano 80-69

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Piacenza (5-4) defeated at home 14th ranked San Vendemiano (3-6) 80-69 on Saturday. They outrebounded San Vendemiano 36-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Piacenza looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for swingman Mattia Magrini (190-93) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (205-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Lorenzo Varaschin (-98) answered with 13 points and power forward Andrea Carlesso (202-82) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for San Vendemiano. San Vendemiano's coach Fabio Volpato rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Piacenza have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place in B, which they share with Desio and Lecco. San Vendemiano lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Piacenza will face Milano Urania (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San Vendemiano will play against Sestu and hope to win that game.
