Regular Season Round 8: Costa Masnaga - Crema 70-72

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Team Crema (5-3) edged on the road one of their biggest challengers Costa Masnaga (5-3) 72-70 on Saturday. Guard Paola Caccialanza (175-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points. Forward Martina Picotti (184-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Team Crema players scored in double figures. Power forward Giulia Rulli (185-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and guard Valentina Baldelli (170-89) added 18 points in the effort for Costa Masnaga. Costa Masnaga's coach Gabriele Pirola rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Team Crema moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Costa Masnaga. Team Crema will face San Salvatore (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Costa Masnaga will play against Cagliari CUS (#13) and hope to win that game.
