Regular Season Round 10: Calidus Gal.COB - Leon 66-56

EBA round 10 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Leon (7-1) against fifth ranked Calidus Gal.COB (5-2) 66-56 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Leon. The game was mostly controlled by Calidus Gal.COB. Leon managed to win third quarter 23-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Leon to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Calidus Gal.COB forced 26 Leon turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Leon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 6 rebounds. Dutch center Bob Van Zijverden (212-95) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Calidus Gal.COB's coach Juan Norat used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Ted Hinnenkamp (201-93, college: Dickinson, agency: Duran International) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and guard Jose Antonio Lopez (190-96) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Leon. Calidus Gal.COB have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B. Leon at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Chantada. They were replaced at the leadership position by Menorca. Leon will play next round against La Fecha trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Calidus Gal.COB will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Innova Chef in Zamora.
