Regular Season Round 18: SeaHorses - Ryukyu GK 100-88

Rather predictable result in Kariya where first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (14-4) defeated 4th ranked Ryukyu GK (8-10) 100-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Ryukyu GK was better in second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ryukyu GK 48-27 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 21 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-4 record. Ryukyu GK lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Ryukyu GK (#5) in Okinawa in the next round.
