Regular Season Round 18: Hitachi SR - Niigata Albirex 81-76

Everything could happen in Tokyo at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers and one of their biggest challengers Niigata Albirex had identical 9-8 record. This time Hitachi Sunrockers used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Niigata 81-76 on Saturday night. Niigata Albirex was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Hitachi Sunrockers shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) with 22 points and his fellow American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers (10-8) moved-up to second place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the third position with nine games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face again Niigata Albirex (#4) at home in the next round.
