Regular Season Round 9: Den Bosch - Leiden 70-67

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Eredivisie took place in Den Bosch. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Leiden (6-3) to seventh ranked Dukes UDB (3-6) 70-67 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leiden. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 24-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American guard Antwan Scott (188-92, college: Colorado St.) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Charles Mitchell (203, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Thomas Koenis (210-89, agency: Court Side) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) added 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Leiden. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Dukes UDB moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Leeuwarden and Rotterdam. Leiden at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Dukes UDB is looking forward to face league's second-placed Zwolle on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leiden will play against Leeuwarden and is hoping to win this game.
