Regular Season Round 13: Garzas - Soles 78-89

Date: November 26, 2016
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Soles (6-7) won against 4th placed Garzas (7-6) in Plata Hidalgo 89-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Garzas managed to win second period 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. It was a very good performance for American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Puerto Rican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) contributed with 13 points and 9 assists for the winners. International forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) added 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Garzas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles maintains fifth place with 6-7 record, which they share with Barreteros. Newly promoted Garzas keep the fourth position with six games lost. Soles is looking forward to face Ciudad (#8) in Ciudad Juarez in the next round. Garzas will play on the road against Santos (#9) in San Luis Potosi and are hoping to win this game.
