Regular Season Round 10: Almassera - Cartagena 73-79

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Cartagena (3-5) beat bottom-ranked Almassera (0-8) in Valencia 79-73 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Almassera won third quarter 18-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Cartagena especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. Almassera was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American guard Jared Grady (190-89, college: Indianapolis) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Forward Javier Santabarbara (197-95) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Cartagena players scored in double figures. Point guard Antonio Segovia (185-89) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and forward Matias Boho (193-96) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Almassera. Cartagena have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with Benidorm. Loser Almassera still closes the standings with eight games lost. Cartagena will face higher ranked Sagunto (#5) in Gilet in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Almassera will play on the road against Paterna (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
