Everything could happen in Zacatecas at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Barreteros and 8th ranked Santos had identical 5-7 record. This time Barreteros used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Luis Potosi 74-68 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie) contributed with 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and naturalized American forward Irvin Avalos (201, college: Dallas Baptist) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Santos. Barreteros (6-7) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Soles. Santos at the other side keep the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Indios. Barreteros is looking forward to face league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santos will play at home against Garzas (#4) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
