Regular Season Round 11: Oviedo - Gipuzkoa GBC 72-64

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gipuzkoa (8-3) on the court of fifth ranked Oviedo CB on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Oviedo CB 72-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gipuzkoa. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Gipuzkoa trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 21-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 64-72 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 6 rebounds. Brazilian center Felipe Dos Anjos (218-98) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St., agency: Duran International) responded with 18 points and Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oviedo CB have a solid series of four victories in a row. Oviedo CB keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Gipuzkoa. Oviedo CB is looking forward to face Melilla Baloncesto (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gipuzkoa will play against CB Prat (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
