Round 8 in A1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Athens where host Olympiacos (8-0) beat league's leader AEK Athens (7-1) 78-67 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of AEK Athens. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. AEK Athens managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded AEK Athens 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Olympiacos made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was American-Belgian guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds.
