Second Stage Round 16: Guangdong - Henan 74-75

Important game to mention about took place in Guangzhou. Second ranked Henan (3-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging bottom-ranked Guangdong Dolphins (0-3) 75-74 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Nigerian-American forward Chiney Ogwumike (193-92, college: Stanford) who scored that evening 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and forward Jie Sun (187-91) supported her with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 27 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists by Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) did not help to save the game for Guangdong Dolphins. International forward Sijing Huang (192-96) added 19 points and 5 steals for lost side. Henan keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Shanghai. Guangdong Dolphins at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Henan will play against league's second-placed Shanghai Dahua on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Beijing Great Wall (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
