There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-6) was edged at home by fourteenth ranked Carugate (1-6) 56-54 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Carugate forced 19 Cagliari CUS turnovers and outrebounded them 47-29 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Emily Correal (190-90, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Francesca Diotti (170-97) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Power forward Elena Riccardi (187-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Federica Alesiani (170-97) added 14 points and 4 steals in the effort for Cagliari CUS. Carugate left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Cagliari CUS. It was Cagliari CUS's sixth loss in a row. Carugate will face higher ranked Milano (#6) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
