Regular Season Round 8: Civitanova - Udine Delser 55-61

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Udine Delser (4-4) beat 4th ranked Civitanova (5-3) in Civitanova Marche 61-55 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-11. But Civitanova won second period 18-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nigerian-British swingman Ejay Ofomata (180-86, college: Central State) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Debora Vicenzotti (182-89) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) replied with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and guard Silvia Ceccarelli (172-96) added 18 points in the effort for Civitanova. Udine Delser moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Civitanova keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Udine Delser will face Fanola SML (#8) in San Martino di L in the next round. Civitanova will play on the road against Palermo (#13) and hope to win that game.
