The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Hitachi Cougars' (4-12) home victory over 10th ranked Aishin Wings (1-15) in Hitachinaka 68-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 14 points after three quarters before their 23-6 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hitachi Cougars dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Strangely Aishin Wings outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 46-34 including 22 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for guard Yuki Kitamura (170-94) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Yagi Kasumi (163-92) contributed with 23 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Kyoko Hamaguchi (181-90) added 4 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for Aishin Wings. Aishin Wings' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Haneda Vickies. Aishin Wings at the other side keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Hitachi Cougars will face higher ranked Toyota B SR (#7) in Aichi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin Wings will play on the road against Haneda Vickies in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
