Regular Season Round 19: Shimane SM - Kagawa FA 78-65

Rather predictable result when third ranked Shimane Magic (13-5) defeated at home 5th ranked Kagawa FA (3-15) 78-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Kagawa FA was better in fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kagawa FA to just 7 points in first quarter. Shimane Magic made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Rintaro Tokunaga (177-86) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Shimane Magic. They maintain third place with 13-5 record having just two points less than leader Kumamoto V. Kagawa FA lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 15 games lost. Shimane Magic will face Kagoshima (#6) in Renova in the next round. Kagawa FA will play at home against Orange Vikings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
