Regular Season Round 10: Burgos - Cantbasket 69-70

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Cantbasket (6-2) edged on the road 8th ranked Burgos (3-5) 70-69 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cantbasket dominated on the defensive end, holding Burgos to just 6 points in second quarter. They also forced 21 Burgos turnovers. It was a very good performance for American forward Paul Larsen (198-92, college: USC Aiken) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 rebounds. Bosnian Sandro Gacic (200-96) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Cantbasket players scored in double figures. Forward Alvaro Gomez (192-84) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and British guard Jules Akodo (188-96) added 18 points in the effort for Burgos. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Cantbasket moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Burgos keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Cantbasket will face Pielagos (#12) in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play on the road against the league's leader Estela (#1) in Santander and hope to win that game.
