Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Gijon (2-6) was outscored on the road by third ranked Betanzos (6-2) 88-69 on Sunday. Gijon was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Gijon 45-26 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Betanzos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for center Marcos Rozas (202-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Rodrigo Plaza (197-93) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Forward Diego Sanchez (198-78) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Dani Gonzalez (202-84) added 20 points in the effort for Gijon. Betanzos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group A-B with 6-2 record behind leader Menorca. Gijon lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with six games lost. Betanzos will face Naron (#6) on the road in the next round. Gijon will play against BVM 2012 (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
