Regular Season Round 19: Cyberdyne IR - Gunma 68-77

Date: November 27, 2016
The game between Top Four teams took place in Tsukuba. 3rd placed host Cyberdyne IR (9-9) lost to first ranked Gunma (14-4) 77-68. The guests were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 30-19 last quarter charge of Cyberdyne IR cut the lead to 77-68 at the end of the game. Gunma dominated on the defensive end, holding Cyberdyne IR to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and guard Maeda Yosuke (188-89) added 16 points in the effort for Cyberdyne IR. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma maintains first place with 14-4 record, which they share with Hiroshima D. and Nishinomiya S. Cyberdyne IR lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with nine games lost. Gunma's next round opponent will be Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Cyberdyne IR will play against the league's second-placed Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
