Regular Season Round 9: Scandone AV - Enel Brindisi 76-73

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Serie A took place in Avellino. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Enel Brindisi (4-5) to fourth ranked Scandone AV (7-2) 76-73 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Enel Brindisi won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American guard Levi Randolph (196-92, college: Alabama) chipped in 13 points. Scandone AV's coach Stefano Sacripanti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American-Jamaican swingman Durand Scott (196-90, college: Miami, FL) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Scandone AV moved-up to second place, which they share with Grissin Bon RE. Enel Brindisi at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Scandone AV is looking forward to face Umana Venezia (#4) at home in the next round. Enel Brindisi will play against Banco di Srd and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
