Regular Season Round 19: SeaHorses - Ryukyu GK 92-86

Leader Aishin Sea Horses delivered the fifteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Ryukyu GK (8-11) 92-86 in Kariya. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Ryukyu GK won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) scored 23 points. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses (15-4) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Ryukyu GK lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will meet league's leader Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ryukyu GK will play against Sendai 89ers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
