Very expected game when 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (3-5) was defeated at home by third ranked Maccabi Rishon (5-3) 84-77 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-77. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Rishon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 assists and 5 steals and American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) who added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke, agency: Stealth Sport) responded with 22 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Maccabi Ashdod dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Maccabi Rishon will meet Hapoel Jerusalem (#6) on the road in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Eilat and hope to secure a win.
