Regular Season Round 19: Hitachi SR - Niigata Albirex 83-75

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tokyo. Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers faced 4th placed Niigata Albirex. Host Hitachi Sunrockers (11-8) defeated guests from Niigata (9-10) 83-75. It looked good early as Niigata Albirex took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hitachi Sunrockers had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Niigata Albirex was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-83. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Shunki Hatakeyama (170-91) added 14 points and 7 assists in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains third place with 11-8 record having five points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Kyoto Hannar.. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niigata Albirex will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
