Regular Season Round 11: Guangzhou LL - Tianjin GL 108-89

Date: November 27, 2016
Guangzhou's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after ten consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked TianJin Steel (5-6) 108-89. Guangzhou made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Guangzhou outrebounded TianJin Steel 47-33 including 21 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Guangzhou especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a great evening for American swingman D.J. Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) helped adding 15 points and 13 rebounds. Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) scored 24 points and 5 assists. Five Guangzhou and four TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guangzhou (1-10) left bottom position moving up to eighteenth place, which they share with Bayi R. and Jiangsu TX. TianJin Steel at the other side dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Guangzhou will play against higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TianJin Steel will play against Guandong Tigers and will have a slim chance for a victory.
