Regular Season Round 8: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Haifa 93-71

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Hapoel Jerusalem and 8th ranked Maccabi Haifa had identical 3-4 record. This time Hapoel Jerusalem used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Haifa 93-71 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi Haifa managed to win fourth quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem shot 62.7 percent from the field. Five Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Simone Pianigiani felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and international swingman Amit Simhon (198-89) scored 17 points. Hapoel Jerusalem (4-4) moved-up to sixth place. Loser Maccabi Haifa dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet at home league's second-placed Maccabi Rishon in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Haifa will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) and hope to secure a win.
