Regular Season Round 19: Iwate Big Bulls - Yamagata 62-60

Important game to mention about took place in Iwate. Sixth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (3-15) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Yamagata (9-9) 62-60 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yamagata. Yamagata was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 17-10 third quarter run of Iwate Big Bulls. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and guard Yuji Takahashi (183-91) added 6 points and 6 assists respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kagawa FA. Yamagata at the other side dropped to the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Cyberdyne IR. Iwate Big Bulls will play against league's leader Gunma on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamagata will play against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
