Regular Season Round 9: Cecina - San Miniato 61-86
Date: November 27, 2016
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Cecina (6-2) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by seventh ranked San Miniato (6-3) 86-61. It was a great shooting night for San Miniato especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a good game for naturalized Swiss Olivier Giacomelli (198-95, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 9 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Forward Gabriele Giarelli (197-93, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. San Miniato's coach Federico Barsotti felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Saverio Mazzantini (194-95) answered with 10 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Leonardo Salvadori (198-93, agency: Players Group) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Cecina. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Miniato moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with Cento and Crema. Cecina at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. San Miniato is looking forward to face Moncalieri (#7) at home in the next round. Cecina will play against Domodossola (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
