Regular Season Round 8: Umbertide - Torino 69-75

The most shocking disappointment of round 8 in the Seria A1 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Umbertide (2-6) to eighth ranked Torino (3-5) 75-69 in the game for the seventh place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Umbertide won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Umbertide 29-17. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ashley Bruner (183-91, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Jori Davis (175-89, college: Indiana) who added 24 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Guard Antiesha Brown (178-92, college: N.Mexico) responded with 19 points and power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Umbertide players scored in double figures. Torino moved-up to seventh place. Umbertide at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Broni and Vigarano. Torino are looking forward to face Vigarano (#10) at home in the next round. Umbertide will play against Broni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
