Regular Season Round 11: Lulea Basket - IK Eos 84-64

Rather expected game when 7th ranked IK Eos (5-7) were crushed on the road by fourth ranked Lulea Basket (8-3) 84-64. The game without a history. Lulea Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to IK Eos' 42 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded IK Eos 45-33 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lulea Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Dutch forward Janis Ndiba (183-97) accounted for 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Lulea Basket players scored in double figures. American guard Antoinette Thompson (170-90, college: TCU) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Vee Young (186-89, college: Martin Methodist) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for IK Eos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Newly promoted IK Eos keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Lulea Basket will play against KFUM Ostersund (#6) on the road in the next round. IK Eos will play against Sallen and hope to get back on the winning track.
