Regular Season Round 8: Landes - Nice 71-66
Date: November 27, 2016
There was no surprise in Mont de Marsan where 9th ranked Nice (3-5) was defeated by second ranked Basket Landes (6-2) 71-66. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (182-90) who scored that evening 21 points and American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) supported her with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Four Basket Landes players scored in double figures. Even 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by German forward Romy Baer (187-87) did not help to save the game for Nice. International forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Basket Landes maintains second position with 6-2 record behind leader Bourges, which they share with Lattes Montp. and Flammes. Nice at the other side dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Basket Landes' next round opponent will be Villeneuve D'Ascq (#7) on the road where they are favorite. Nice will play against Lyon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
