Regular Season Round 14: Fuerza Regia - Barreteros 91-70

LNBP top team - Fuerza Regia (14-0) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Barreteros (6-8) in Monterrey 91-70. The game was mostly controlled by Fuerza Regia. Barreteros managed to win fourth quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barreteros 42-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) scored 9 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Gabriel Giron (190-88) chipped in 18 points and 9 assists during the contest. Fuerza Regia's coach Paco Olmos felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Decensae White (198-88, college: San Francisco St.) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-0 record. Newly promoted Barreteros keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Fuerza Regia are again looking forward to face Barreteros (#6) in Zacatecas in the next round where they are favorite. Barreteros will have a break next round.
