Regular Season Round 11: Helmi Basket - ViVe 66-82

There was no surprise in Helsinki where 9th ranked Helmi Basket (3-8) was defeated by seventh ranked ViVe (5-6) 82-66 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by ViVe. Helmi Basket managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. ViVe outrebounded Helmi Basket 43-23 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 9 assists. Ulriikka Latvala (173-95) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. International center Helmi Tulonen (189-98) responded with 23 points and international guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (173-99) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ViVe moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Helmi Basket dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. They share it with Espoo Team and PeKa. ViVe will meet at home Catz Lappeenranta (#4) in the next round. Helmi Basket will play against the league's leader Forssan Alku (#1) and hope to secure a win.
