Regular Season Round 14: KTP Basket - Kauhajoki 75-68

Bottom-ranked KTP-Basket managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Kauhajoen Karhu in Kotka 75-68. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-8. But Kauhajoen Karhu won second period 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KTP-Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) notched a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) supported him with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) did not help to save the game for Kauhajoen Karhu. His fellow American import guard Tate Unruh (193-90, college: N.Colorado, agency: Inception Sports) added 14 points for the guests. KTP-Basket (4-9) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Kauhajoen Karhu dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with BC Nokia. KTP-Basket will meet at home higher ranked UU-Korihait (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against Lapuan Korikobrat (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
