Regular Season Round 12: Beijing D. - Guangzhou LL 102-101

Twentieth-ranked Guangzhou (1-11) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Beijing Ducks (8-4). Beijing Ducks managed to secure only one-point victory 102-101. However their fans expected much easier game. Beijing Ducks dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Guangzhou's 48 and made 28-of-35 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Guangzhou helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Xiaochuan Zhai (205-93) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Beijing Ducks' coach LuLei Min allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman D.J. Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) replied with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and international center Ziming Fan (211-98) added 24 points in the effort for Guangzhou. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Beijing Ducks maintains seventh position with 8-4 record. Guangzhou at the other side dropped to the nineteenth place with 11 games lost. Beijing Ducks' next round opponent will be higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#3) in Dongguan and it may be quite challenging game. Guangzhou will play at home against North Control (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
