Very important is a road loss of third ranked Whale (3-3) against fourth ranked Heilongjiang Chenneng (3-3) on Thursday night. Visiting Whale was defeated by Heilongjiang Chenneng in a tough game in Harbin 79-84. Heilongjiang Chenneng made 24-of-28 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Heilongjiang Chenneng outrebounded Whale 39-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Jiahe Zhang (182-94) chipped in 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and guard Fangzhu Gong (170-91) scored 8 points and 7 assists. Four Whale players scored in double figures. Heilongjiang Chenneng moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Sichuan. Heilongjiang Chenneng will play against Shandong (#6) in Jinan in the next round. Whale will play on the road against the league's second-placed Xinjiang in Urumqi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
