Regular Season Round 8: Minas - Pinheiros 88-94

Very expected game in Belo Horizonte where 12th ranked Minas (2-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Pinheiros (5-3) 94-88. They made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Minas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Renan Lenz (206-90, college: Utah) contributed with 21 points for the winners. International guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) replied with 25 points and point guard Alexandre Pinheiro (185-85) added 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Minas. Five Pinheiros and four Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Cristiano Carvalho tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinheiros moved-up to fourth place. Minas at the other side keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paolo Paulistano.
