Regular Season Round 21: Quilmes MP - La Union 76-71

There was a small surprise in Mar del Plata where eighth ranked Quilmes MP (9-10) beat 6th ranked La Union (9-11) 76-71 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But La Union won third quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quilmes MP forced 19 La Union turnovers. Strangely La Union outrebounded Quilmes MP 38-24 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Eric Flor (186-93) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and international guard Luca Vildoza (190-95) chipped in 15 points. The best for the losing side was point guard Alejandro Konsztadt (191-89) with 12 points and 7 assists and American-Jamaican center Torin Francis (210-83, college: Notre Dame) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Quilmes MP. They moved-up to seventh place in Sur, which they share with Penarol. Loser La Union dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Quilmes MP will face higher ranked Olimpico de La Banda (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
