Regular Season Round 21: Instituto - Olimpico LB 88-77

There was a small surprise in Cordoba where seventh ranked Instituto (9-10) defeated 5th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (9-11) 88-77 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-77. American swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) stepped up and scored 29 points for the winners and his fellow American import center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC, agency: DTMones) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. Instituto's coach Ariel Rearte used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Maximiliano Stanic (178-78, agency: Players Group) with 15 points and 9 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Instituto moved-up to fifth place in Norte. Loser Olimpico de La Banda dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Instituto will face Boca Juniors (#9) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Olimpico de La Banda will play at home against Quilmes MP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
