Regular Season Round 15: KTP Basket - Korihait 81-67

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kotka where 8th ranked UU-Korihait (4-9) was defeated by ninth ranked KTP-Basket (5-9) 81-67 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by KTP-Basket. UU-Korihait managed to win third quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four KTP-Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Marcus Van (201-87, college: Cent.Michigan) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Mikko Jalonen (186-82) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KTP-Basket moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted UU-Korihait dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. KTP-Basket will meet Tampereen Pyrinto (#9) on the road in the next round. UU-Korihait will play against Kouvot and hope to secure a win.
