Third ranked AB Contern (5-2) crushed at home 5th ranked Etzella (2-4) by 28 points 78-50, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The game without a history. AB Contern led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Etzella to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Etzella 36-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Bridget Yoerger (180-87, college: S.Dakota) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. German center Nadine Grieb (184-87) chipped in 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Lynn Schreiner (165-91) who recorded 15 points and power forward Annick Neiertz (183-92) added 11 points respectively. Etzella's coach Trenton Wurtz gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. AB Contern maintains third place with 5-2 record behind leader Amicale. Etzella lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. AB Contern will meet league's second-placed Basket Esch on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Etzella will play against Telstar in Hesperange and hope to secure a win.
