Very predictable result when fourth ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (8-3) won against at home 10th ranked Chalons-Reims (5-6) 70-60 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Pau-Lacq-Orthez looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (207-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard D.J. Cooper (183-90, college: Ohio) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Eric Bartecheky used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Mark Payne (203-88, college: Cal-Davis) answered with 4 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Dutch center Nicolas de Jong (210-88) added 15 points in the effort for Chalons-Reims. Pau-Lacq-Orthez moved-up to second place, which they share with Chalon and Nanterre. Loser Chalons-Reims dropped to the ninth position with six games lost.
